Does bodily injury cover pain and suffering?

I was recently involved in a minor accident and sustained some injuries. I'm wondering if a bodily injury claim under insurance covers pain and suffering in addition to medical expenses. What is the usual practice here?

In my years, I have seen many people deal with insurance after accidents. Yes, typically bodily injury liability insurance in motor claims does cover pain and suffering compensation, but it requires proper legal documentation and medical bills to prove the trauma.

Honestly, the only pain and suffering I know is when my favourite food joint is closed! But jokes aside, yes, insurance covers non-economic damages like pain if the injury is severe. Better to eat some hot jalebis to cheer up while dealing with all that boring legal paperwork.

I always worry so much about accident procedures and what insurance covers if something goes wrong. From what I read, it does cover pain and suffering, but the claim process can be very draining and stressful. Keep all your hospital receipts very safely just in case.

Yes, it absolutely does. Bodily injury covers both your direct medical costs and the subjective 'pain and suffering' if you file a proper legal claim. Just get a good lawyer or talk to your insurance agent directly to get the maximum claim.

Legally, bodily injury claims include both special damages (like medical bills) and general damages (like pain and suffering). Make sure your doctor notes down the psychological impact and severity of pain in your discharge summary. That makes the claim process much easier.

Dealing with physical pain is hard enough without the stress of insurance. It usually covers pain and suffering, but every policy has different terms and clauses. Please read your specific policy document carefully or check with the agent so you don't face surprises.

When my son met with a minor scooter accident last year, we had to go through this. The insurance did compensate for the mental trauma and physical pain, but we had to submit detailed doctors' certificates. Don't worry, just keep all medical files ready.
