Does blue cross blue shield cover mounjaro for diabetes?

My doctor mentioned Mounjaro as a potential new medication for my diabetes. It sounds promising. I wanted to know if health insurance plans usually cover such newer and often expensive diabetes medications here in India.

From what I've seen in my support groups, BCBS generally covers Mounjaro if you have a confirmed Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis. They might be cautious and ask for your HbA1c history first, so don't get discouraged if the approval takes a bit of time.

I was prescribed Mounjaro for my high sugar levels, but I am so anxious about whether my BCBS plan will reject the claim next month. Has anyone here faced sudden coverage rejection after their first few doses? It is really stressful to think about the high cost.

I have been managing diabetes for over twenty years now and have seen many new medicines come and go. BCBS does cover these advanced treatments like Mounjaro nowadays if your doctor prescribes it for blood sugar control. Just trust your endocrinologist and follow their guidance.

Our relatives also use these modern sugar medicines. Yes, the big insurance companies cover it if the doctor writes it for diabetes. Just ask your hospital helper to send the papers correctly to BCBS. God bless you with good health.

Yes, they definitely do cover it for Type 2 Diabetes! My dad got his approval within a week after his doctor submitted the lab reports. Just make sure your doctor writes the correct diagnosis code and you'll be good to go!
