Does blue cross blue shield cover mental health?

Lately, I've been feeling very stressed and anxious with work pressures. I'm thinking of seeking professional help. Does health insurance typically cover mental health consultations or therapy sessions in India?

Yes, they absolutely do cover it. My son needed therapy for anxiety last year and our BCBS plan covered his sessions after we paid a small copay. Just make sure the therapist you choose is in-network, otherwise the out-of-pocket costs can be quite high.

With my PCOS, I had severe mood swings and sought mental health support. From my experience, BCBS usually covers counseling, but the number of sessions allowed per year can be limited. I advise calling your member services to check the exact session limits before starting.

Doing daily pranayama and walking in nature helps calm the mind a lot. But if the anxiety or depression is too deep, please do not hesitate to see a doctor. BCBS plans generally cover psychiatric consultations, so use that benefit if needed.

I totally get it, dealing with mental health struggles is hard enough without having to worry about insurance bills. BCBS is legally required to cover mental health services just like physical health in many places. Please reach out to them, you deserve all the support.

I completely understand the anxiety of wondering if therapy will be covered, as I've been there myself. Fortunately, BCBS has very good mental health coverage for both online and offline therapy sessions. Taking that first step to get help is the best thing you can do for yourself.
