Does blood pressure go down when you sleep?

I monitor my blood pressure regularly, and I've noticed it's often lower in the mornings. I was curious to know if blood pressure naturally goes down when you sleep.

Of course it does, your body is resting so your cardiovascular system slows down. If your BP doesn't dip at night, that is actually a sign to see a doctor.

Yes, it is called 'nocturnal dipping'. My smart band shows my heart rate and resting stats drop significantly while sleeping, which is totally normal and healthy.

So you are saying my BP drops while sleeping? That's great news, maybe it compensates for the extra salt I had in my dinner pizza!

Yes, sleep naturally lowers your BP. To keep it healthy during the day too, try to get at least 30 minutes of brisk walking done daily.

I didn't know this! My mother has high BP, so should we avoid measuring her blood pressure right after she wakes up from sleep?
