Does benadryl hurt your liver?

As I'm getting older, I'm more careful about the medicines I take and their effects. I sometimes use Benadryl for my allergies. Does Benadryl have a negative impact on the liver, especially for older people?

In my seventy years, I have seen many people take Benadryl for seasonal coughs. It is a very old and trusted medicine, and taking it occasionally as recommended does not hurt the liver. Just don't make a habit of taking it every day.

When my mother had to take allergy medications, the physician at Medanta explained that standard therapeutic doses of Benadryl do not cause hepatotoxicity. However, if you have existing liver damage, you must ask your doctor clearly before taking any such OTC syrup.

For regular throat congestion, hot turmeric milk is much safer than heavy medicines. Benadryl doesn't harm the liver in normal doses, but if you are experiencing severe fatigue, jaundice symptoms, or abdominal pain, skip the home tips and see a doctor immediately.

I always try to use steam inhalation with ajwain or ginger-honey mixture to avoid taking heavy cough syrups. But if your allergy is too severe, taking Benadryl for 2-3 days won't hurt your liver. Just don't stretch the usage beyond that.

Listen boss, if you take it once in a while for a cold, nothing will happen to your liver. But if you are drinking it like alcohol or taking it daily to sleep, then obviously you are asking for trouble. Keep it to the recommended dose and relax.
