Does benadryl help with pain?

Sometimes getting general body aches and pains, nothing serious, just routine, I have Benadryl at home. Can Benadryl also help in relieving general aches and pains, or is it not an analgesic?

Well, Benadryl makes you sleep so deeply that you literally forget you exist, let alone feel any pain! But honestly, it's not a painkiller. It will just knock you out cold.

No yaar, Benadryl is actually just an allergy medicine. It won't help with body aches or headaches. You should take a proper painkiller if your doctor has prescribed one.

I tried taking Benadryl last month when I had severe body aches from a cold, thinking it would help. It did absolutely nothing for the pain, only made me super groggy. I had to consult my doctor who gave me the correct pain reliever.

According to clinical studies, diphenhydramine has some local anesthetic properties but is not effective as a systemic analgesic. My doctor confirmed that using it for general pain relief is medically incorrect and can lead to unnecessary sedation.

Benadryl is not formulated to relieve pain. For physical pain, it is better to manage it through proper medical advice, especially if you have conditions like diabetes where some pain medicines can affect kidney health. Please consult your physician.

No, Benadryl is for allergies and coughs, not for pain. I hope you feel better soon. Please take care.

I used to panic and think I could take any OTC medicine for body pain, but my doctor reassured me that Benadryl has no pain-relieving properties. It is just an antihistamine, so don't expect it to help with aches.
