Does benadryl help with fever?

Come down with a fever and feel really uncomfortable. My mother usually gives me paracetamol, but I was wondering if Benadryl could also help bring down a fever or is it only for allergies?

No, Benadryl is an antihistamine for allergies, not an antipyretic. It will not reduce a fever. If you have a high fever, please consult a doctor immediately to check for infections like dengue or flu instead of taking random medicines.

Benadryl is not meant for fever at all. When you have a fever, your body needs light, easily digestible food like khichdi and plenty of warm water to stay hydrated. Make sure to consult a doctor for the correct fever-reducing medicine.

When I had a viral fever, the doctor at Max Hospital clearly told me to avoid taking over-the-counter antihistamines like Benadryl as they don't treat fever and can mask other symptoms. Please consult a qualified general physician for proper prescription medicines.

Don't take Benadryl for a fever; it's a waste of time and will just make you drowsy. Take paracetamol if your doctor recommends it, and monitor your temperature. If the fever doesn't go down in 48 hours, go get a blood test done.

Bro, Benadryl is for cough and allergies, it won't do anything for your fever. Don't take it thinking it's a general cold pill. Just take some rest, drink soup, and consult a doctor if the fever is high.
