Does benadryl help eczema?

Really struggling with eczema breakouts lately, especially the itching, someone told me Benadryl might help calm it down. Is Benadryl effective for treating eczema?

I have eczema on my hands, and Benadryl only helped me sleep through the nighttime itching, but it didn't actually heal the dry skin patches. For the rash itself, I had to use prescription creams.

While Benadryl might temporarily reduce the urge to itch, eczema is a complex skin condition. Please get it checked by a dermatologist before self-treating, as you might need specific topical steroids or moisturizers.

I know how painful and frustrating eczema flare-ups can be. Benadryl might help calm the severe itch so you don't scratch, but applying virgin coconut oil or colloidal oatmeal baths regularly works much better to soothe the skin barrier naturally.

Eczema is a very troublesome thing, it gives so much discomfort. Benadryl will only make you sleep so you forget the itching for a while, but it will not cure the disease. Please go to a good doctor in your town and get proper ointment.

I once ignored my spreading skin rash and just kept taking Benadryl to stop the itching, which delayed proper treatment and caused a severe skin infection. Do not make my mistake. Go get a proper skin checkup from a specialist.
