Does being sleep deprived make you loose taset?

Been really sleep-deprived lately because of work pressure, and I feel like my sense of taste isn't as sharp as it used to be. Can lack of sleep actually make you lose your taste buds or affect taste perception?

Haan na, actually jab sleep deprivation hota hai, toh body bohot stressed rehti hai aur tongue ke taste buds thode temporary numb ho jaate hain. Plus, acidity aur dryness bhi hoti hai sleep na hone se. But standard sleep cycle thik karo, taste wapas aa jayega.

Oh, I completely panicked when this happened to me during my exam days! I hadn't slept for 3 days and suddenly everything tasted like cardboard. It turned out to be just extreme exhaustion and dry mouth. Once I slept for 9 hours straight, my taste came back completely, so don't worry.

Actually, sleep deprivation messes with your olfactory system (sense of smell), which is heavily linked to how you perceive taste. My health tracker shows a huge drop in recovery when I don't sleep, which explains why food feels bland. Try prioritizing 7-8 hours of sleep to see if it improves.

Be careful with this. I ignored my loss of taste thinking it was just fatigue, but it turned out to be a nerve-related issue exacerbated by high stress. If your taste loss persists for more than a couple of days even after resting, please see a doctor immediately to prevent any complications.

Loss of taste isn't a direct or common symptom of just being tired. Don't rely on random internet forums saying it is just sleep deprivation; it could be a viral infection, nasal congestion, or something else. Get a proper consultation with an ENT doctor to be sure.

Is this really true? I have been sleeping only 4 hours a night due to work stress, and recently I can't seem to taste my salt or spice properly. I was getting so worried it might be something serious. Has anyone else experienced this exact same thing?
