Does beer prevent kidney stones?

My friend joked that drinking beer can actually prevent kidney stones. Is there any medical basis for this claim? I want to know if it's true, as I'm prone to kidney stone formation.

No, dear, beer does not prevent them. Please take care of your health and just drink plenty of normal water to keep your kidneys clean.

Arey nahi yaar, beer peene se kidney stones prevent nahi hote. Haan, starting mein lagta hai ki urination zyada ho raha hai, but actually alcohol body ko dry kar deta hai. So don't use this as an excuse to drink, normal paani hi best hai!

I used to believe this myth and drank beer regularly, but still ended up with a 7mm kidney stone. My doctor clearly explained that the uric acid and oxalates in beer actually help form stones. To prevent them, limit your spinach, reduce salt, and drink 3 liters of water daily.

Please do not rely on alcohol to prevent health issues, as it can cause other complications like liver damage or blood pressure. If you are worried about getting kidney stones, please consult a physician. They can do a simple urine test and guide you on the right preventive steps.

I wish beer prevented kidney stones, then my weekend plans would be medically approved! But jokes aside, my doc said beer actually does the opposite because of dehydration. So sadly, we have to stick to boring old water for prevention.
