Does baking soda help with dandruff?

My scalp has been super itchy and flaky lately, I think it's dandruff. A friend told me to try using baking soda on my hair. Does baking soda actually help with dandruff, and is it okay for hair long-term?

Bro, don't put baking soda on your scalp. I tried it last year thinking it would scrub off my dandruff, but it made my hair super dry and rough like grass. Honestly, just buy a proper anti-dandruff shampoo with ketoconazole from the chemist, it works way better.

I used to get bad scalp buildup from sweating daily at the gym. Baking soda is too harsh and ruins the hair quality, so I stay away from it. Proper hydration, washing your hair after sweaty workouts, and a balanced diet with good fats solved it for me.

Beta, baking soda is very strong and might hurt your delicate scalp. If you have dandruff, a simple curd massage or a little lemon mixed with mustard oil before washing is much better. Take care of your hair, too many chemicals or strong sodas are not good.

My dermatologist explained that baking soda has a very high pH of around 9, whereas our scalp needs a slightly acidic pH of 5.5. Using baking soda can strip all natural oils, leaving the scalp vulnerable to more fungal growth and worse dandruff. She recommended using a mild zinc pyrithione shampoo instead.

I ignored my itchy scalp for months and kept trying home hacks like baking soda, which only irritated it further. By the time I went to a skin specialist, it had turned into a severe seborrheic dermatitis infection and I lost a lot of hair. Please get a proper doctor's advice early.

I had a terrible experience trying baking soda for dandruff. It caused severe chemical irritation on my scalp, leading to painful bumps and skin peeling. I had to take steroid lotions to heal the damage. Please go to a proper dermatologist instead of trying these risky kitchen remedies.

Our bodies often reflect the stress we carry inside, and scalp issues are no different. Keep a calm mind and nourish your body with pure, simple things rather than harsh baking soda. Treat your hair gently with natural oils, and let your body heal at its own beautiful pace.

Has anyone else felt that their hair got incredibly stiff after using baking soda? I tried it once because of a video and now my scalp is itching even more and I'm so scared of hair fall. Is this normal or should I rush to a skin specialist?

Arrey, don't stress too much about the dandruff, half the country is dealing with it! But seriously, skip the baking soda hack, it's way too drying and will ruin your hair texture. Just use a gentle dandruff shampoo twice a week and keep your scalp clean, you'll be fine.

In our times, we never used these chemical powders like baking soda on our hair. If your scalp is itchy, gently apply lukewarm coconut oil infused with a few neem leaves. Wash it off with a mild shikakai powder. This is much safer and keeps the hair healthy.
