Does baking soda help fever blisters?

I get fever blisters quite often, and they are really painful and unsightly. My grandmother suggested applying a baking soda paste on them. Does baking soda actually help with healing fever blisters, or is it just an old home remedy?

I used to panic every time a fever blister popped up before college exams, thinking it would look awful forever. I tried a baking soda paste once and it just burned the skin and made it redder. Don't worry, they are super common and usually heal on their own in a week or two if you just leave them alone.

Fever blisters, or cold sores, are caused by a virus, so baking soda won't actually cure them. In my experience, keeping the area clean and using a simple over-the-counter antiviral cream works much faster. Avoid picking at the scab and let it heal naturally, my friend.

When we have high sugar, any skin blister or sore can take longer to heal and easily get infected. I wouldn't risk applying abrasive stuff like baking soda on active sores. Better to keep your sugar under control and use whatever ointment your doctor prescribes.

I completely understand how stressful and embarrassing it feels when these blisters pop up suddenly. It is totally normal to feel anxious and want a quick fix from the kitchen. But baking soda can be really harsh and cause more irritation, so please be gentle with your skin.

At my age, if I start putting baking soda on every ache and blister, I'll end up looking like a half-baked pakoda! Honestly, these blisters just need some peace and quiet to go away. Skip the kitchen remedies, apply a doc's gel, and watch some TV instead.

Oh, fever blisters are the absolute worst, especially before any big event! I tried baking soda once because of some internet post, and honestly, it just dried out my lip so badly that it started bleeding. Stick to ice packs for the burning sensation and an actual antiviral gel from the chemist.

Stress is a major trigger for these blisters, just like it messes with my blood pressure levels. Instead of relying on soda, focus on getting good sleep and keeping your stress levels low. If you get these blisters very frequently, a quick visit to your family doctor is always best.
