Does asthma exempt you from the draft?

I'm thinking about a career in the armed forces and have mild asthma. Do medical conditions like asthma provide an exemption from military conscription or eligibility for certain roles?

Yes, active asthma is generally an exemption because physical military training can be very risky for your lungs. Don't stress too much about it, focus on keeping your breathing stable and let the medical board guide you.

I totally get it, you must be feeling anxious about how this will affect your medical clearance. Usually, chronic respiratory issues like asthma do qualify for an exemption because safety comes first.

Look, simple rule is that any chronic lung issue makes you unfit for active military duty. Just carry your proper hospital prescriptions and test reports to show the medical officers.

Having faced severe chest congestion complications myself, I know how risky sudden cold or dust can be. It is absolutely necessary to consult a specialist and get proper documentation for your military medical board.

Bro, if you have active asthma and use an inhaler, you will easily get a medical exemption. They don't take any chances with lung issues during high-intensity physical tests.
