Does asthma disqualify you from the military?

My dream is to join the Indian army, but I occasionally use an inhaler for my asthma. I'm really worried if this medical condition will disqualify me from entering the military.

Stay positive and take care of your health first. If one door closes due to medical rules, many other beautiful paths to serve society will definitely open up for you.

With chronic health issues like thyroid or asthma, regular medical follow-ups are so important. The military needs people who don't require daily maintenance meds, so check the latest official criteria carefully.

Just like I have to monitor my BP before any physical strain, military boards check lung capacity very closely. Go for a routine checkup first to understand the severity of your condition before applying.

Back in my younger days, some of my friends were rejected during army selections due to breathing issues. Looking back, it was for their own safety because the high altitude training is incredibly tough on the lungs.

Active asthma after a certain age is a direct disqualifier during the military medical exam. If your asthma was only during childhood and you are completely off medications now, you might need a spirometry clearance certificate.

I once hid my breathing trouble during a local sports selection and ended up collapsing on the field. Don't hide any asthma symptoms from military doctors; get a proper lung checkup done beforehand.

It is really heartbreaking when you want to join the forces and your own body feels like it is letting you down. I went through similar anxiety about my physical limits, and your feelings are completely valid.
