Does asthma affect vo2 max?
I'm a keen runner and I've been working on improving my endurance. I also have mild asthma. Does asthma affect my VO2 max, and are there ways to improve it despite my condition?

I had a bad asthma flare-up last year and my running capacity dropped heavily. But once I got my inhaler dosage adjusted by my doc, my VO2 max slowly climbed back up. It just takes time and regular care.
In my youth, I struggled with asthma and thought I could never build stamina. With consistent, gentle breathing exercises and proper medication, my lungs became much stronger. Your capacity can definitely improve over time.
Taking warm ginger-tulsi water helped ease my breathing congestion naturally. But if you are experiencing severe breathlessness or chest tightness during exercise, please stop immediately and see a doctor.
Asthma can limit your oxygen intake during intense workouts, which lowers your VO2 max. I suggest starting with brisk walks and light cardio only after your doctor says it's okay. Gradually build your lung capacity.
I have to manage both high BP and mild asthma. Regular checkups are a must to make sure your heart and lungs are coping well when you try to push your limits. Don't strain yourself without doctor's clearance.
