Does ashwagandha increase liver enzymes?

I have some pre-existing liver issues, and my doctor advises me to be careful with any new supplements. I'm considering taking ashwagandha for stress. Can ashwagandha increase liver enzymes, or is it generally safe for someone with my condition?

I started taking ashwagandha to sleep, but then I read it might raise liver enzymes and now I'm too awake worrying about my liver! Honestly, it seems rare but possible if you take huge amounts. Just check with a doctor so you can sleep in peace.

During my husband's checkup at Max Hospital, the doctor specifically told us to disclose all herbal supplements because they can sometimes alter liver enzyme readings (SGOT/SGPT). Please ask your doctor clearly about this before starting. It is always better to get professional medical advice.

While ashwagandha is a great adaptogen, there are documented cases where high-potency extracts caused a temporary rise in liver enzymes. It's best to use mild powders or tea forms and take regular breaks from the herb. If you have any history of liver issues, avoid it completely.

I had a personal scare with this last year when my routine LFT showed elevated liver enzymes after taking concentrated ashwagandha capsules. My doctor made me stop all supplements and my levels returned to normal in three weeks. Please consult a doctor and monitor your blood reports regularly.

Hey, don't worry too much. It only happens in rare cases if people misuse very strong doses. Just stop taking it for a while and get a simple liver function test done to be absolutely sure. Let me know if you need help finding a good lab.

Beta, Ayurvedic medicines are very hot in nature and should be taken with milk to balance them. Taking too many modern capsules on an empty stomach can irritate your liver. Stick to simple home remedies like warm milk and stop these heavy pills if they don't suit you.

Bro, don't stress too much about every single report you read online. Unless you are eating spoonfuls of it daily, your liver is likely totally fine. Just get a quick test done if you are really worried, and buy from a trusted brand next time.
