Does ashwagandha affect thyroid?

I have an underactive thyroid and am currently taking medication for it. I've heard good things about ashwagandha for overall well-being, but I'm hesitant to try it. Will ashwagandha affect my thyroid function or medication?

I started taking ashwagandha to control my midnight dessert cravings, but then I heard it can actually mess with thyroid levels! Since my weight is already a rollercoaster because of all my food blogging, I decided to keep it on hold. Better safe than sorry when it comes to metabolism!

I just bought a bottle of ashwagandha powder to help with my daily stress, but I have a mild family history of thyroid issues. Does it make the thyroid more active or slow it down? I'm a bit hesitant to open the pack now.

I was reading some medical blogs and found that ashwagandha can boost T4 levels significantly. It's fascinating how a simple herb can have such a strong hormonal impact. Has anyone here actually noticed a change in their TSH levels after using it?

Clinical studies suggest that ashwagandha can increase thyroid hormone levels, which might benefit hypothyroid patients but could be risky for hyperthyroid ones. Since thyroid regulation is highly sensitive, self-medicating is not wise. Please consult an endocrinologist for a proper evaluation.

Yes, ashwagandha can increase thyroid hormone levels, so you should monitor your TSH regularly if taking it.

I tried ashwagandha for my joint pains and stress, but it made me feel a bit restless after a few weeks. Later, our local Vaidya told me it can stimulate the thyroid gland, which explains the restlessness. It's a powerful herb, so always take it under proper guidance, not just because a neighbor recommended it.

Hormones are not something to play around with at home. If you have any existing thyroid condition, taking ashwagandha without checking can worsen your levels. Please get a proper blood test done and show the reports to your doctor before starting any herbal tablets.

Oh my god, I have been taking ashwagandha for my anxiety and now I am panicking that it might have messed up my thyroid! I keep tracking every small symptom like throat tightness or sweating now. If you are anxious like me, please talk to a doctor first so you don't overthink every pill.
