Does asbestos cause cancer?

My father used to work in an old factory many years ago, and they sometimes handled materials like asbestos. He's developed some breathing issues now. Can asbestos really cause cancer, and should we be getting him checked?

Yes, it actually does, so please don't use asbestos sheets as your daily dinner plates! In all seriousness, prolonged exposure to asbestos dust is indeed risky. If you have old blue sheets in your shed, just leave them alone or get a professional to replace them.

Yes, breathing in asbestos fibres is very harmful for the lungs and can lead to serious diseases over time. For general breathing health, doing tulsi steam inhalation or having ginger tea helps, but it won't fix chemical damage. If someone has a chronic cough or chest pain from working near old sheets, they must go to a hospital immediately.

Please take this seriously. I ignored a persistent cough for six months thinking it was just dust allergy, and it turned into a major lung infection that took a year to heal. Asbestos exposure is highly linked to lung cancer and mesothelioma, so if you've been around it and have any breathing issues, get a chest X-ray done immediately.

Honestly, asbestos is one of those few things where the internet is not lying about the cancer risk. It's really dangerous if the fibers are flying around in the air. I'm too tired to deal with leaky roofs, but if I had asbestos up there, I would definitely pay someone to tear it down safely.

Haan na, asbestos is definitely known to be quite harmful if the sheets are broken and dust goes inside our lungs. If the roof sheets are intact then there is no immediate danger, but replacing them is the best option. Ghar pe safe rehna is most important, no?

Yes, it is a proven carcinogen. My uncle worked in a construction warehouse years ago and developed severe pulmonary complications because of inhaling these fibers. Please do not try to handle or break old asbestos sheets yourself, and consult a pulmonologist if you have any exposure-related symptoms.
