Does arthritis qualify for disability?

My arthritis has become quite severe, making it difficult to do daily tasks and affecting my work capacity. I'm wondering if I can apply for disability benefits because of it. Does arthritis qualify for disability in India?

Haan na, severe arthritis can make daily chores so difficult. Yes, in India, severe joint damage or deformity does qualify under disability rules, but the process has thoda paperwork. You should consult a government hospital doctor for this.

If the joint damage is advanced and restricts mobility severely, it can qualify. I had severe complications in my hip joint because I delayed my treatment. Please see your orthopedic surgeon to understand the exact status of your joints.

Applying for a government disability certificate requires specific medical board assessments and X-rays. Plan these tests at a government medical college as it is very cost-effective and their reports are directly accepted for official paperwork.

Severe cases do qualify, especially if it limits your working capacity. Since I manage diabetes, I always keep an eye on neuropathic pain as well. Do get a proper clinical evaluation from a certified specialist for clarity.

Only extreme cases with severe joint fusion qualify for disability benefits. For mild to moderate stages, keeping up with targeted mobility exercises and a good diet can help preserve your joint function for a very long time.

My uncle recently got his disability certificate processed for severe rheumatoid arthritis. The medical board checks your percentage of physical impairment. It takes some time and patience with government offices, but it is definitely possible.

In my years, I have seen that if arthritis severely affects your ability to walk or work, the government does offer support. Don't lose heart, speak to your doctor at a government clinic and they will guide you through the process step-by-step.
