Does arthritis hurt to the touch?

Sometimes, even a light touch on my knuckles or knees causes intense pain, which is very irritating. Is this tenderness or 'hurt to the touch' sensation normal for arthritis?

Yes, my joints can be very tender and sensitive to touch during a flare. Since I have thyroid issues as well, I make sure to do my regular blood checkups as hormonal imbalances can affect pain levels. Keep in touch with your doctor.

I used to panic when even a light touch on my wrist hurt like crazy, thinking it was a bone fracture. But my rheumatologist told me it is just standard joint tenderness from inflammation. It gets much better once the swelling goes down.

Yeah, when my knees are inflamed, even wearing tight jeans hurts because of the touch. It is pretty typical when the joint is highly inflamed. Just get a proper doctor's opinion to handle it.

Tenderness is common, but you have to be careful. Since I manage diabetes, I always ensure my blood sugar is in check because high sugar can sometimes worsen nerve sensitivity and joint pain. Do consult your doctor regularly.

My grandmother used to suggest a gentle warm water compress for tender joints, which does give thoda comfort. But for proper relief, trusting the doctor's prescription is always the safest way forward.

Yes, inflamed joints can get super sensitive, so don't stress too much if it hurts when you touch it. Just avoid putting pressure on it for a few days and let the doctor check it out.

Honestly, during exams, my wrist gets so sore that even resting it on the desk hurts. My doc said it's just the joint tissue getting inflamed. Better to get it checked before it affects your work!
