Does antibiotic help with pain?

A terrible toothache is bothering me right now, and it's really painful. My neighbor said taking an antibiotic might help. Do antibiotics actually help with pain relief, or are they only for infections?

Beta, in my seventy years, I have seen many people popping antibiotics for headache or body pain, which is completely wrong. Antibiotics are only for bacterial infections. If you have pain, take a proper painkiller after consulting your doctor, don't harm your stomach.

No, antibiotics do not relieve pain at all. Also, taking antibiotics unnecessarily ruins your gut health and healthy bacteria. If you must take them on a doctor's advice, make sure to eat lots of curd or take a good probiotic to protect your stomach.

Listen to me, don't just take an antibiotic thinking it will cure your pain. It doesn't have any pain-relieving properties. If you are hurting, let me know what kind of pain it is, and please see a doctor so they can give you the correct medicine safely.

Antibiotics are meant to fight infections, not to soothe pain. To help your body heal naturally, keep your mind calm, drink warm water, and rest. Let a doctor guide you on what medicine is truly needed for your recovery.

Ketan, direct bol raha hoon, antibiotic koi painkiller nahi hai. Log sochte hain har bimari ki ek hi dawa hai. Sahi doctor ke paas jao aur unhe batao dard kahan ho raha hai, khud se doctor mat bano.

I also used to think antibiotics cured everything, but they don't touch pain. For minor body aches or throat pain, try a warm haldi-doodh or ginger tea, it gives great comfort. But if the pain is severe, skip the home remedies and see a proper doctor.

When my son had a severe toothache, I thought of giving him some leftover antibiotics, but his dentist stopped me. He explained that antibiotics only clear the infection, but for pain, we need specific anti-inflammatory medicines. Always ask a professional before giving such strong medicines.

I totally get it, when you are in severe pain, you just want to take whatever is in the medicine cabinet to find relief. But honestly, antibiotics won't help with pain unless it is a bacterial infection causing the inflammation. Please check with a doctor to get the right relief.
