Does anaemia cause fever?

A few weeks back, I was diagnosed with mild anaemia. Since yesterday, I've been having a low-grade fever that comes and goes. Can anaemia actually be a reason for getting a fever?

No, anemia itself does not cause a fever. If you have both, there might be an infection or another issue, so please consult a doctor.

I am new to this and just found out my iron is quite low. I have been feeling slightly warm but my thermometer says normal. Can low hemoglobin make you feel hot or feverish even if there is no real fever?

Anemia shouldn't directly cause a fever, but low iron levels can lower your resistance to infections. Since I manage my diabetes carefully with a strict diet, I always make sure to eat spinach and beetroot to keep my blood counts healthy. If you have a fever, please see a doctor instead of just taking iron supplements.

I know how scary it is when your body feels completely run down and you start getting unexpected symptoms. Anemia causes extreme coldness and fatigue, but a fever usually points to your body fighting some other infection. It is so exhausting dealing with this, please get a doctor to check you thoroughly.

My daughter had very low hemoglobin and used to get tired easily, but she never ran a fever from it. When she did get a fever once, the doctor said it was a throat infection because low iron makes their immunity weak. Please get a proper CBC test done for your peace of mind.
