Does an infection always cause a fever?

My son has been feeling unwell and we suspect an infection, but he doesn't have a fever. My mother-in-law insists all infections cause fever. Does an infection always cause a fever, or can you have one without it?

I went through a terrible time with a silent kidney infection that had no fever at all, and it made me feel like I was going crazy because doctors kept asking if I had a temperature. It's so exhausting when your body is suffering but there's no obvious sign like fever. Please trust your body and get checked.

No, infections can absolutely exist without a fever, especially urinary or mild skin ones. Instead of waiting for a fever to develop, it is much cheaper and safer to do a basic CBC or urine test early on. Catching it early saves you from expensive hospital stays later.

Sabhie bimariyon mein bukhar nahi aata, beta. Kuch infection dheere se andar hi rehte hain bina sharir ko garam kiye. Agar aapko kamzori lag rahi hai ya kahin dard hai, toh bade doctor ko zaroor dikha lijiye.

Just recovered from a severe dental infection last week, and trust me, there was absolutely no fever, just unbearable localized pain and swelling. The dentist told me that localized infections often don't trigger a full-body fever response. Definitely get it checked.

No, actually! I had a pretty bad sinus infection last month and didn't run a fever even once. Sometimes your immune system fights it off quietly or the infection is localized, so don't wait for a fever to decide if you need to see a doctor.

Don't stress, but also don't assume you are fine just because there is no fever. Many infections can brew silently without raising your body temperature. If you feel off, have pain, or notice any unusual symptoms, let's get you checked out by a doctor just to be safe, alright?

In my seventy years, I have seen many times where my children or grandchildren had infections without a single degree of fever. Especially as we get older, our body's response changes. Always look at the overall health and energy levels, not just the thermometer.

According to what my doctor explained, a fever is just your immune system's general inflammatory response. If the infection is localized or if your immune response is slightly slow, you won't get a fever. Blood tests like CRP and CBC are much more reliable indicators of infection.
