Does amoxicillin treat kidney infections?

My friend has a kidney infection, and the doctor prescribed Amoxicillin. She's worried it might not be strong enough. Does Amoxicillin effectively treat kidney infections? Just want to reassure her.

It can be used, but many bacteria that cause kidney infections are now resistant to amoxicillin. Make sure to drink coconut water and eat light, low-sodium foods while your doctor decides the best antibiotic course.

My health app forum has several threads on this. Often, doctors prefer amoxicillin-clavulanate or stronger drugs for kidneys rather than plain amoxicillin. Definitely get a urine culture report uploaded for your doctor to review.

Do not rely on online advice for kidney infections, as they can get dangerous very quickly. Only a doctor can determine if amoxicillin is strong enough after looking at your laboratory test results.

When I had a kidney infection last year, my doctor prescribed a different, stronger antibiotic because he said amoxicillin might not cover it. I suggest consulting your urologist instead of self-treating.

Haan na, kidney infections are very painful and shouldn't be ignored. Amoxicillin work karega ya nahi, yeh toh urine report dekh kar doctor hi batayenge. Dr. se consult kar lo jaldi.

Plain amoxicillin is rarely the first choice for a kidney infection nowadays due to resistance issues. Get a proper clinical diagnosis and follow your doctor's prescription strictly.
