Does amoxicillin reduce fever?

My daughter has a fever because of a bacterial infection, and the doctor prescribed Amoxicillin. Does Amoxicillin help in reducing the fever as well, or is it just for the infection itself? I want to make sure she feels better soon.

I have taken two doses of amoxicillin but my fever is still 101. Is it supposed to work slower, or is this medicine not working for me? I am getting a bit worried now.

I remember feeling so helpless when my fever wouldn't go down. But amoxicillin is not a fever reducer like paracetamol. It only helps bring down the fever indirectly once it starts killing the bacteria causing the illness.

Amoxicillin isn't your regular Crocin, buddy. It clears the backend infection while you rely on light food and rest to feel better. Once the bug is gone, the fever leaves too.

No, it won't reduce fever instantly. You must use cold water cloth strips on the forehead and drink warm tulsi-ginger tea to stay comfortable while the antibiotic does its work on the infection.

Remember, amoxicillin is an antibiotic and has no fever-lowering properties on its own. You usually need to take paracetamol alongside it for the first 2-3 days as advised by your doctor to keep the temperature down.

From what I know, amoxicillin only helps if the fever is from a bacterial infection, like a throat or ear issue. It won't work on viral fevers, so it's always safer to let a doctor diagnose you properly.
