Does amlodipine affect your liver?

My husband has been on Amlodipine for his blood pressure for quite some time now. His liver enzyme levels came back a bit high recently, and we're wondering if his medication could be affecting his liver. Should we be worried, doc?

Amlodipine is generally safe for the liver, but if you feel any yellowing of eyes or severe stomach pain, see a doctor immediately. For daily liver health, I always drink warm lemon water in the morning and eat simple, non-oily food.

I have been taking amlodipine 5mg for my blood pressure for over five years now. My liver function tests have always come back normal in my yearly checkups, so in my experience, it hasn't caused any issues.

I totally get it, worrying about long-term side effects on organs like the liver is very natural when we take daily meds. It is usually very safe, but sharing your worry with your physician can really help ease your mind.

My dad takes this medicine and he was worried about this too. His doctor told him amlodipine liver issues are super rare, so don't stress unless a blood report actually shows something.

It rarely affects the liver. Just avoid alcohol completely while you are on BP medications to keep your liver safe.

If you are worried about liver health while taking daily BP medicines, the best solution is to get a routine Liver Function Test (LFT). It only costs around 400-500 rupees at any local lab and will give you complete peace of mind.
