Does amitriptyline make you sleep?

My doctor prescribed Amitriptyline for my neuropathy and told me to take it at night. Does this medicine make you feel sleepy? I just want to know what to expect when I start it.

Yes dear, it definitely makes you feel very drowsy, which is why doctors usually advise taking it at night. I have seen many people in my family use it, and it really helps them get deep sleep. Just make sure you take it a couple of hours before your actual bedtime.

It has a strong sedative effect. If I take it too late at night, I struggle to wake up for my 9 AM office calls. Try to take it by 8 PM so that the morning grogginess doesn't ruin your workday.

Yes, it knocks you out for a good 8 hours. To beat the heavy feeling the next morning, I make sure to hit the gym or go for a run. Staying hydrated and a quick morning workout really clears the brain fog.

It does bring a very deep sleep. Along with the medication, try doing 10 minutes of Bhramari Pranayama before lying down. It calms the mind naturally and works beautifully alongside your prescription.

Bro, this medicine makes you sleep so much. I missed my morning lectures twice because I just couldn't wake up on time. Better set like five loud alarms if you have morning classes.

I totally get it, dealing with sleep issues and trying new meds can be so stressful. Yes, amitriptyline is known to induce sleep and is often used for insomnia. Give your body a few days to adjust to this heavy feeling.

It definitely causes sleepiness. Before you start it, check with your doctor if any lifestyle changes can fix your sleep first, so you don't have to keep buying expensive medicines or doing costly sleep study tests.

My father's neurologist at Fortis prescribed this and specifically told him to expect deep sleep. Everyone reacts differently, so ask your doctor clearly about the dosage and the right time to take it.

Actually yaar, it makes you sleep like a baby. I was taking a very low dose for my nerve pain and it used to make me super sleepy within an hour. Just don't plan any night drives after taking this.

I was reading about this drug's mechanism online. It has antihistamine-like properties which basically means it makes most people very drowsy. Seems to be a very common reaction from what I've researched.

Yes, it makes you sleep heavily. Just avoid taking any alcohol or other sleeping pills with it as it can be dangerous.

Hey, don't stress too much about the sleepiness! It actually helps people who find it hard to rest because of pain or stress. Just curl up, watch a light show, and let the medicine do its job at night.
