Does aloe help with eczema?

My skin has been very dry and itchy lately, and I suspect it might be eczema. My mother suggested applying aloe vera gel. Does aloe help with eczema, or should I see a dermatologist first?

I am also dealing with extremely dry, itchy skin on my elbows lately and was thinking of trying fresh aloe. Does it burn when you first put it on? Would love to know if anyone with sensitive skin has used it safely.

At this age, my skin is drier than my bank account, and eczema makes it worse. Aloe gel definitely gives some cool relief from the itching, but don't expect miracles. It's just a temporary fix while you wait for your doctor's appointment.

It can certainly give you some cool, soothing relief from that constant irritation! 🌿 I love using fresh gel directly from our home plant. Just do a small patch test on your wrist first to make sure your skin loves it too!

I tried packaged aloe gel on my eczema and it actually made it worse because of the added perfumes. Fresh gel from the plant is much better if you want to try it. But honestly, a thick moisturizer prescribed by a skin doc works ten times better.

My eczema skin is so sensitive that even natural things make me worry about bad reactions. Did anyone else get a mild redness right after applying pure aloe gel? I am too scared to try it again without hearing from others.

Aloe gel can definitely soothe the skin surface and reduce redness. I also feel that keeping active and doing some light walking helps reduce stress, which is a major trigger for eczema flares. Just consult your doctor before modifying your routine.

According to the skin care tracking logs on my wellness app, aloe gel works well to calm inflammation during dry weather. It helps lock in a bit of moisture, but for chronic eczema, you should log your food triggers and show a dermatologist.
