Does aleve affect the liver?

I sometimes take Aleve for my headaches or muscle pain, especially after a long day. I heard that some pain relievers can be hard on the liver. Does Aleve also affect the liver negatively, even with occasional use?

My son had to take strong painkillers for a joint injury last year, and I was so worried about his organs. The doctor explained that taking things like Aleve once in a while is okay, but daily use can load the liver and kidneys. Please keep an eye on how often you take it.

I was popping pain relievers daily for my chronic backache till my doctor scolded me. My liver enzyme levels had actually gone slightly up in my annual blood test. Once I stopped taking these pills over the counter and switched to physiotherapy, my levels became normal.

I totally panicked when I read about pain medicines and liver damage online! But my doctor reassured me that occasional use for a headache or muscle cramp is absolutely fine for a healthy liver. Just don't make it a daily habit without medical supervision.

Yes, any NSAID painkiller like Aleve can affect the liver if taken in high doses for long periods. If you have existing liver issues or drink alcohol regularly, you have to be extra careful. It is always wise to discuss alternative pain management with your physician.

I can only share what happened with me. My doctor specifically told me to avoid taking Aleve regularly because of my sensitive stomach and liver concerns. I now prefer using warm compresses or other non-pill methods for minor aches unless absolutely necessary.

My mother always tells me to drink warm water with ginger for minor aches instead of popping pills. But when the pain is bad, I consult my doctor. He mentioned that occasional use of Aleve is fine, but long-term use is not good for liver health.

Since I already manage high BP and take daily pills, I am very careful about over-the-counter painkillers. They can sometimes affect your kidneys and liver, and even raise BP. I get my liver and kidney function tests done yearly to monitor this.
