Does adderall cause kidney stones?

I've had kidney stones in the past, and it was a very painful experience. Now, I'm considering Adderall for my ADHD. Could this medication increase my chances of getting kidney stones again?

Since it is a stimulant, it can cause dehydration, which is a major reason for kidney stones. Along with managing my high BP, I make sure to drink at least 3 liters of water daily. Keep checking your kidney functions if you are on long-term meds.

Haan, direct relation toh nahi hai, but isse dehydration bahut hoti hai na. If you don't drink enough water because of the medicine, then stones can definitely form. Bas paani peete raho daba ke, don't worry.

At 48, my body finds any excuse to create a kidney stone! While this medicine doesn't directly make stones, forgetting to drink water while focusing at work certainly does. Keep a water bottle next to you, my friend.

I have seen this concern raised by many people on this platform. The medicine itself doesn't cause stones, but its side effect of dry mouth and dehydration does. Make it a habit to drink coconut water or lemon water to keep your system clean.

I can only share what happened to me. I got a small kidney stone last year while taking this medication, but my doctor said it was because of my high salt intake and poor hydration, not the pill itself. I started drinking more water and have been fine since.

Hey, don't worry about kidney stones too much. As long as you are keeping yourself hydrated and not ignoring your thirst, you will be absolutely fine. Just set a reminder on your phone to drink water every hour.

I am so busy staying up late that I completely forget to drink water, and this medicine makes my mouth dry as a desert anyway. If you don't want painful stones, drink water. Trust me, you don't want that middle-of-the-night emergency room visit.

To prevent kidney stones while on any medication, watch your diet carefully. Avoid too much spinach, tomatoes, and salty snacks, which are high in oxalates. Include more citrus fruits in your vegetarian diet and stay well-hydrated.

No need to buy expensive detox drinks to protect your kidneys. Just buy a simple 1-liter bottle, fill it up three times a day, and make sure you finish it. Simple lifestyle adjustments are the cheapest and best way to prevent stones.

There is no direct pharmacological link between this stimulant and nephrolithiasis (kidney stones). However, my physician pointed out that since stimulants increase perspiration and reduce thirst, chronic mild dehydration can lead to stone formation. Hydration is key.
