Does acidity increase down the group?

My father has been having increasing issues with acidity as he gets older. I vaguely remember from science class something about 'acidity increasing down the group' in some context. Does this concept apply to how body acidity changes with age or any other 'group' of factors?

Man, this sounds like my high school chemistry exam syllabus which I used to lose sleep over. If you are talking about hydrides in chemistry, yes, acidity increases down the group because bond strength decreases. But if you mean human stomach acidity, it only increases when I eat late-night biryani.

If this is a chemistry question about periodic tables, yes, binary acid strength increases down a group because the atomic size gets larger and the H-X bond becomes weaker. For medical related queries, acidity is purely about stomach health and lifestyle, not periodic trends.

I do not understand these modern science terms about groups, but if you are experiencing severe acidity in your family, it is best to avoid spicy food. Drinking a glass of warm water with cumin seeds can soothe the stomach gently.

I remember studying this exact chemical trend during my college days. Down the group, the central atom's size increases, making it easier to release the H+ ion, so acidity definitely increases. Glad my science classes are finally useful somewhere.

Yes, in chemistry, hydrogen halide acidity increases down the group. It is due to the decreasing bond dissociation energy as size increases.

In chemistry, yes, acidity of hydrides increases as you go down. As a diabetic, I don't focus much on chemical equations, but I do have to be very careful with my own stomach acidity as certain sugar medications can irritate the stomach lining.

This seems like a science textbook topic rather than a health issue. I don't know much about chemical groups, but whenever I get physical acidity, I just stick to drinking cold milk and eating basic home-cooked meals.
