Does acid reflux cause rib pain?

I've had acid reflux for a while now, but recently I've started feeling a sharp pain in my ribs, especially after eating. Could my acid reflux be causing this rib pain, or is it something else I should worry about?

Yes, it definitely can because I went through this exact scare last month. The gas build-up and acid irritation can radiate pain right under your rib cage and make you panic. Getting my doctor to prescribe some basic antacids and avoiding late-night dinners cured it for me.

While gastroesophageal reflux can indeed cause referred pain in the chest wall and rib area, it is crucial to rule out other issues first. If you experience shortness of breath or if the pain radiates to your arm, go to a clinic immediately. A proper medical evaluation is always the safest route.

Oh my god, I have been feeling this exact same tightness under my left ribs and was getting so scared it was something serious. Does anyone else get a burning feeling in their throat along with this? I feel so relieved reading that it could just be acid reflux.

In my 65 years, I have realized that severe acidity can cause pain in the strangest places, including the chest and ribs. It is usually just wind and acid putting pressure on the surrounding nerves. Just avoid heavy oily food at night and walk a bit after your meals.

I know how uncomfortable that rib area pressure is when acidity strikes. I tried drinking warm fennel water (saunf pani) after lunch and it really helped release that trapped gas. But if the pain is very sharp or doesn't go away, please do not ignore it and check with a doctor.

My health tracker showed my sleep quality was terrible because of late-night acid reflux, which actually triggered muscle and rib-area soreness. The upward flow of acid can mimic chest and bone discomfort. I started tracking my meal times and stopped eating 3 hours before bed, which resolved it.

Our bodies often feel pain when there is stress and imbalance inside. Do not worry too much, try to keep your mind calm and take light meals on time. God willing, once your digestion settles down, this rib discomfort will also fade away.
