Does a pap test for ovarian cancer?

My gynaecologist suggested I get a Pap test soon. I've been a bit worried about ovarian cancer because my aunt had it. Does a Pap test help detect ovarian cancer, or is it for something else?

Hey, don't stress too much about this. A Pap test actually only checks for cervical cancer, not ovarian. If you are worried about your ovaries, just talk to your doctor and they can suggest an ultrasound or the right test for you.

No, it doesn't test for ovarian cancer. It is specifically for cervical cells. Just like we need targeted nutrition for different body needs, we need specific diagnostic tests like pelvic scans for checking ovary health.

At my age, navigating hospital tests is like learning a new language. But no, a Pap test is strictly for the cervix, not the ovaries. Sadly, one test doesn't clear us for everything down there, so you'll need to ask your doctor for separate scans.

No, dear, it doesn't. When my daughter had some pelvic issues, the gynecologist explained that the Pap test only screens the cervix. We had to get an ultrasound for her ovaries, so please do request a proper scan from your doctor.

No, a Pap smear only screens for cervical cancer and HPV changes in the cervix. Ovarian cancer screening is completely different and usually involves a pelvic ultrasound or CA-125 blood test. Speak to your gynaecologist for a proper clinical evaluation.

Don't worry, it's a very common doubt. A Pap test is only for cervical cancer screening. If you are having any bloating or discomfort, tell your gynecologist clearly so they can order a pelvic ultrasound, which is the right way to check the ovaries.
