Does a migraine go away on its own?

I suffer from terrible migraines, and sometimes I just try to sleep it off hoping it'll pass. Will a migraine eventually go away on its own if I just wait it out, or do I always need medication to get relief? I prefer not to take too many pills.

Usually, a migraine attack will run its course and go away on its own, but it can take anywhere from 4 to 72 hours. I use a health tracker to log my sleep and water intake because dehydration is a big trigger for me. Keeping track helps reduce how often they happen.

I totally get it, that throbbing pain is absolutely miserable to live with. Yes, it eventually fades away on its own, but lying in a dark, quiet room with a cold cloth on your forehead helps speed up the relief. Sending you lots of strength.

Bro, migraine is the worst, especially during exam season. For me, it does go away after a couple of hours if I just shut my eyes and sleep it off. But if it's too bad, I have to take a painkiller that my doc prescribed because waiting it out is just painful.

They do go away, but it takes a toll on your body. I found that my migraines were worse when my blood pressure was high. Getting regular checkups and maintaining a consistent eating and sleeping schedule helped me manage both issues much better.

Eventually it goes away, but usually only after it has completely ruined my entire day and my plans! Sleep is the only real cure for me, but with my current sleep schedule, that itself is a luxury. Good luck dealing with the head explosion!

It will eventually pass, but honestly, why suffer for days waiting for it to go away on its own? You should see a neurologist to get the right rescue medication. It saves so much productive time instead of just lying helplessly in the dark.
