Does a kidney infection hurt?

I've been having some pain in my lower back area, just below my ribs, and I'm a bit concerned it might be a kidney infection. Does a kidney infection typically cause a lot of pain, or is it usually a dull ache?

Yes, it hurts incredibly bad in the lower back and side, and it is highly dangerous to ignore. I delayed my checkup and ended up in the hospital with a severe blood infection. Please go see a doctor immediately if you have fever or burning urination.

It is an intense, throbbing pain in your flank area that doesn't go away even when you change positions. My tip is to get a urine culture test done immediately and show it to a nephrologist. Don't waste time on home remedies for this.

I had a severe kidney infection years ago and the back pain was quite unbearable. But don't panic, once the doctor starts the right antibiotics, the pain reduces very quickly. Just seek medical help without delay.

The pain is very sharp and usually comes with high fever and chills. While drinking lots of water and barley water helps with mild UTIs, a proper kidney infection absolutely needs antibiotics. Please don't try to self-treat this at home.

I made the mistake of thinking it was just normal back pain and took simple painkillers, which made things much worse. A kidney infection needs urgent doctor consultation. Please get a proper diagnosis before it damages your health.
