Does a heating pad help with kidney stones?

I'm dealing with excruciating pain from a kidney stone right now, and it's making it hard to concentrate. Someone mentioned that a heating pad might help reduce the discomfort. Is it actually effective for kidney stone pain, or is it just a myth?

My uncle used a heating pad on his lower back to manage the dull ache, but he always kept his doctor in the loop. The warmth can soothe the muscle spasms around the area. However, please consult your doctor for proper scanning and treatment.

I totally get it, kidney stone pain is absolutely agonizing and makes you want to try anything for relief. A heating pad can provide a little temporary comfort for the back spasm. But please make sure you are under a doctor's care.

Haan na, that lower back pain is very terrible when stone starts moving. Heating pad gives thoda relief to the muscles there, but it won't melt the stone. Proper medical treatment and plenty of water is must, ho na.

While a heating pad is okay for temporary relief, we must focus on the root cause. Just like managing my thyroid needs regular blood tests, kidney stones need proper ultrasound and doctor follow-up to check their size.

When I was admitted to Max Hospital for my stone issue, the specialists there explained that heat only helps with muscular tension around the kidney. You must ask your doctor clearly about the actual size of the stone and medication.
