Does a fever cause rapid heartbeat?

When I have a fever, sometimes my heart feels like it's beating much faster than usual. Is it normal for a fever to cause your heart rate to go up like that? It makes me a little anxious when it happens.

Yes, absolutely. When my son got a high fever last year, his chest was beating so fast and I got super scared. The pediatrician explained that for every degree the temperature rises, the heart has to pump faster to cool the body down. Just keep putting cool wet strips on the forehead and keep them hydrated.

It definitely does! Your heart is basically running a mini-marathon to help fight off the bugs. 🏃‍♂️ Just rest up, drink lots of coconut water, and let your body do its job. It will settle down once the fever drops!

I totally get it, feeling your heart race when you are already sick is incredibly frightening. It is actually a very normal physiological reaction because your body is working double-time to fight off the infection. Try to take deep, slow breaths to help calm your mind.

In my years, I have noticed this happening during almost every major bout of seasonal fever. The heart rate naturally climbs when the body temperature goes up, so there is no need to panic. Rest quietly in a cool room and it will slowly return to its normal rhythm.

Whenever I get a viral fever, my fitness band always alerts me that my resting heart rate has jumped up to 100 or more. It used to worry me, but I noticed it always goes back to my normal 65 once my fever breaks. That has just been my personal pattern.

Haha, yes! Your heart basically goes into overdrive mode trying to sweat out the invaders. Don't worry, you aren't having a sudden romantic moment, it's just the fever doing its thing. Grab a blanket, watch some comedy, and let the system cool down.

It is very common for the pulse to speed up when you have a fever. Sip on some warm tulsi and ginger tea to soothe your system and keep your body cool. However, if the heartbeat stays very high even after the fever goes down, please consult your family doctor.

Yes, a high pulse rate is a textbook response to elevated body temperature. Your heart is working harder to circulate blood and regulate heat, which is quite standard during a fever. Keep drinking fluids like ORS to prevent dehydration from making it worse.
