Does a cold washcloth help fever?

My husband has a fever and is quite restless. I remember my mother always used a cold washcloth to help us feel better when we were sick. Does a cold washcloth truly help with a fever, or is it just for soothing?

I know how terrifying it feels when the fever keeps rising and you start worrying about what’s wrong. Using a damp washcloth on my forehead always helped ground me and cooled my body down. It is a very safe, gentle first step to help you calm down.

Haan bilkul, thanda kapda sir pe rakhne se bukhar me kaafi aaram milta hai. Par dhyan rakhna ki paani normal nalke ka ho, zyada baraf jaisa thanda nahi hona chahiye na. Isse body ko thoda sukoon mil jata hai.

Yes, it helps cool you down when you feel feverish. Because of my thyroid, my body already struggles with temperature changes, so I use a wet cloth to feel better, but I also make sure to check in with my doctor if the fever doesn't go away.

It can give temporary relief, but don't rely only on internet tips or wet cloths to cure a fever. A fever is usually a sign of an infection. You must consult a proper doctor to find the root cause and get the right medication.

Agree with others, it helps a lot. Wiping your neck and forehead with a damp cloth brings down the heat quickly.
