Does a cold rag on forehead help fever?

My little one has a fever tonight, and I'm trying to help him feel better. My mother-in-law insisted I put a cold rag on his forehead. Does a cold rag on the forehead really help reduce a fever, or is it more for comfort?

It definitely provides symptomatic relief and helps reduce the skin temperature temporarily. However, please remember that it is not a cure for whatever is causing the infection. It's always best to consult a healthcare professional for proper treatment.

I can only speak from my own experience, but a damp, cool cloth on my forehead is the first thing I do when I feel feverish. It doesn't make the fever disappear instantly, but it makes the headache and body heat much more bearable.

Yes, putting a cool wet cloth on your forehead helps reduce body temperature and gives quick relief.

It works well to lower physical discomfort. I use it to manage the temperature, and once the fever subsides and my doctor gives the go-ahead, I do a very light walk around the house to keep my body active and prevent stiffness.

Oh absolutely, it is a lifesaver when you are lying down feeling like a hot oven. I usually keep a cool cloth on my head while sipping on warm, comforting tomato soup. It's the perfect combo to feel a bit human again when you are sick.
