Do zombies sleep?
My younger brother asked me if zombies sleep after watching a show. It made me wonder about the basics of sleep itself, even for fictional beings. Do they technically need rest or show any signs of sleeping?

In pop culture and medical folklore, zombies are depicted as having permanently damaged central nervous systems, meaning they don't experience actual REM or non-REM sleep. Funnily enough, my doctor mentioned during my insomnia checkup that extreme sleep deprivation can actually make humans mimic zombie-like behavior due to brain fog!
This is a very interesting fantasy question! My grandmother always used to say that any living or moving being needs rest, but according to modern movie science, zombies never sleep because they are already dead. I suppose it depends on which movie rules you are looking at.
Haha, if zombies wore fitness trackers, their sleep scores would be flat zero! Since they are reanimated, they don't have circadian rhythms or sleep cycles like we do. They are just on a constant hunt 24/7.
Zombies are just fictional, so they don't need rest. But if real humans are struggling to sleep and feeling zombie-like, I highly recommend drinking warm chamomile tea or massaging your feet with mustard oil before bed. It really calms the nerves.

They definitely don't sleep in movies, but if you are asking this because you feel like a 'zombie' due to zero sleep, please don't ignore it. I ignored my chronic insomnia for months until it affected my heart. Go get a proper sleep study done before it gets bad.
Honestly, as someone working night shifts and getting only 3 hours of sleep, I think I am the zombie here. In movies they don't sleep at all, which explains why they are always so angry and biting people. I get it, honestly.
