Do you vomit with a heart attack?

My neighbour had a heart attack recently, and her son was telling me that she felt very nauseous and even vomited before it happened. I always thought a heart attack was just chest pain. Is vomiting a symptom of a heart attack?

Yes, you can. My uncle's doctor explained that cardiac ischemia can stimulate the vagus nerve, causing sudden gastrointestinal distress, nausea, and vomiting. People often mistake it for a bad case of acidity, but if it is paired with heavy sweating or chest tightness, it is a medical emergency.

I am not an expert, but I've read that vomiting is actually a very common symptom of a heart attack, particularly in women who might not get the classic chest pain. It's always safer to seek immediate medical help instead of waiting it out.

My husband went through this, and the first sign was extreme nausea and vomiting, which we almost ignored. Please do not take it lightly if someone is throwing up and also looks pale, sweaty, or short of breath. Get them to an emergency room immediately.

I was just reading about this yesterday and was surprised to find that nausea and vomiting are major red flags for a heart attack. It's crazy how we always think it's just chest pain, when the symptoms can actually start in the stomach. Better to be aware and get emergency help.

It sounds like a bad movie plot, but yes, vomiting can actually accompany a heart attack. If you are feeling sudden nausea along with a heavy chest, don't just blame that spicy biryani you had. Skip the antacids and head straight to the hospital.
