Do you smell things before a stroke?

A friend was talking about how some people experience strange sensations before a stroke. I was curious if smelling things, like a phantom smell, is one of those early warning signs. Is this something that actually happens?

That sounds quite scary to experience. While smelling things that aren't there can sometimes happen with neurological issues, standard stroke signs are usually sudden numbness in the arm, face dropping, or slurred speech. Please go see a doctor to get an accurate diagnosis.

I actually panicked last year because I kept smelling burnt wood and thought I was having a stroke. Turned out to be a sinus infection combined with high anxiety! But since stroke-like symptoms are serious, it's always best to get a doctor's reassurance rather than stressing.

Dekho, smelling strange things is not a common sign of a stroke, but it definitely means something is off in the nervous system or sinuses. Don't sit and guess on the internet. Go to a good hospital and get yourself checked properly by a doctor.

In the medical field, we look for the FAST signs for stroke: Face dropping, Arm weakness, and Speech difficulty. Smelling phantom odors can occasionally happen with seizures or migraines, but any sudden neurological change warrants an immediate visit to the emergency room.

I usually only smell butter chicken in my dreams! Jokes aside, if you are smelling random things when there's nothing around, that's not normal. Skip the Google searches and get a professional doctor to check what's going on.
