Do you sleep with your engagement ring on?
Just got engaged last month, and I'm still getting used to wearing my ring. My friends have mixed opinions on sleeping with it on. Is it generally safe or should I be taking it off every night?

I used to sleep with mine, but my fingers tend to swell slightly at night, making it very tight in the morning. I tried putting cold water and oil to slip it off, but it was painful. Now I just keep a small box on my bedside table and put it there every single night.
I totally get it, you feel emotionally attached and don't want to take it off ever. But honestly, sleeping with it can sometimes snag on your blankets or even scratch your face. Taking it off before bed is just much safer for you and the ring.
Please be careful. If your fingers swell at night and the ring gets stuck, don't try crazy internet tricks like wrapping thread or using soap if it's already hurting. If your finger turns blue or feels numb, go straight to an emergency room before it cuts off your circulation.
During my pregnancy, my hands swelled up a lot and the doctor at the hospital strictly told me to remove all rings immediately. If you have any health condition that causes fluid retention, it is always better to ask your doctor. Don't risk getting a ring permanently stuck on a swollen finger.
