Do you run fever with mono?

My roommate was just diagnosed with mononucleosis, and she's had a pretty high fever. I've been feeling really tired lately too, but my temperature is normal. Do you always get a fever with mono, or can some people have it without one?

I just recovered from mono last month and yes, the fever was quite high and lasted for almost two full weeks. Along with it, my neck glands were super swollen and I felt incredibly weak, so plenty of bed rest is a must.

Fever is indeed one of the classic symptoms of infectious mononucleosis, often accompanied by a sore throat and lymphadenopathy. Since it is a viral infection, antibiotic treatment is ineffective, and a physician should guide your supportive care.

When my teenager contracted mono, she had a high fever for about ten days. I kept her comfortable with cold sponge wipes, made sure she was constantly sipping on coconut water, and followed our doctor's instructions closely.

A fever is very typical with mono. My mother advised giving warm herbal soups to ease the throat pain, but we primarily trusted our general physician's advice for managing the fever and monitoring liver health.

Yes, a fever is common. Since I have thyroid issues, any prolonged viral illness like mono can really mess with my energy levels, so I always make sure to get my blood work done and stay in close touch with my doctor.

Bro, half my hostel wing got mono last semester and everyone was down with a crazy fever and sore throat. Honestly, just prepare to skip lectures for a couple of weeks because the weakness is real.

I completely understand how scary it is when a fever just won't go away for days and days. It makes you worry about all sorts of severe illness, but once the doctor diagnosed it as mono, knowing what it was helped ease my anxiety.
