Do you run a fever with chickenpox?

My younger sister just got chickenpox, and she's feeling quite unwell. I vaguely remember getting it as a child, but can't recall if I had a high fever with it. Is a fever a definite symptom when you have chickenpox?

Yes, a fever is the very first sign before the rash shows up. You can keep the room cool and place clean, washed neem leaves near the bed to keep things hygienic. But do not skip showing a doctor for proper advice.

Yes, you will run a fever, and it can sometimes get quite high. The most practical thing is to keep a cold water sponge handy to help lower the temperature naturally alongside your doctor's prescribed medicine. Keep the patient in a separate, airy room.

A fever is the body's way of fighting the chickenpox virus. I find that light barley water and coconut water keep the stomach cool and help during this time. Please see a doctor if the fever gets too high or if the patient becomes very lethargic.

A fever is standard with chickenpox and usually starts a day or two before the spots erupt. In my experience, keeping the skin moisturized with calamine helps with the itching while the fever runs its course. Always consult a urologist or general physician for antivirals.

Yes, a fever is common. If you have diabetes, keep in mind that any viral infection can cause your glucose levels to fluctuate. Make sure to monitor your blood sugar closely and consult your doctor for safe, sugar-free fever medications.
