Do you perform cpr on heart attack?

I recently saw a video about someone having a heart attack, and another person immediately started doing CPR. Is CPR always the right thing to do for someone who is having a heart attack, or are there specific situations?

Keeping the breath and heart steady is vital in any emergency. CPR is used when someone collapses, loses consciousness, and stops breathing, which can happen during a cardiac arrest. For a conscious person having a heart attack, keep them calm and comfortable while the ambulance arrives.

It is completely normal to feel panicked and overwhelmed just thinking about these medical emergencies. Just to clarify, CPR is only done if the person is unconscious and not breathing at all. If they are awake and complaining of chest pain, just get them to a hospital immediately.

Please remember that a heart attack is a medical emergency that requires immediate hospitalization. Only perform CPR if the patient is unresponsive and has stopped breathing. Your very first step must always be to call for an ambulance.

I always get so anxious reading about these things and worry if I would know what to do in a crisis. From what I understand, you shouldn't do chest compressions if they are awake and talking. Just try to keep them sitting down and call 108 right away.

Do not rely on random WhatsApp forwards about coughing hard or taking ginger during a heart attack. If a person collapses and stops breathing, they need real CPR and emergency medical help immediately. Verify proper first aid procedures only from authorized medical channels.

Does anyone else feel super confused about the difference between a heart attack and cardiac arrest? I used to think you have to do CPR the moment someone feels chest pain, but now I read that it's only if they pass out completely. It's quite scary to think about.

I once ignored severe chest heaviness thinking it was just acidity, and it turned out to be a major blockage. Don't wait for things to get so bad that CPR is needed. If you or anyone else feels even slight chest discomfort, go straight to the emergency room.
