Do you need to fast for thyroid bloodwork?

My wife needs to get her thyroid bloodwork done soon as she's been feeling a bit off. We're trying to plan the appointment. Does she need to fast before her thyroid bloodwork, or can she eat and drink as usual?

Usually, fasting is not strictly required for a thyroid-only test. However, you must avoid taking your morning thyroid tablet before giving the blood sample, as it can skew the results. Just take the pill right after.

I have been managing thyroid issues for eight years now. While you don't strictly need to fast, you must take your thyroid medication *after* giving the blood sample, never before. Make sure you get regular tests done and consult your endocrinologist for dose adjustments.

There is no strict rule to fast, so stay relaxed and don't stress your body. Just remember to delay your morning medicine until the test is completed. Stay positive and take good care of your health.

No fasting needed! I usually do my light morning yoga or walk, head to the lab for the blood draw, and then have my high-protein breakfast and thyroid pill. It keeps my routine perfectly on track.

Fasting is not required for thyroid tests, so please do not keep your body hungry. Just maintain a calm mind and schedule the blood test for early morning, which is the most natural state for our hormones.

Dude, you don't need to fast at all. I had a big bowl of Maggie before my thyroid test last month and the reports were totally normal. Just make sure you don't take your daily pill before they take your blood.

Did anyone else get higher TSH levels when they didn't fast? I am so anxious that eating breakfast might show a wrong report and the doctor will change my dose unnecessarily. Should I just fast to be safe?
