Do you need to fast for liver function test?

I'm scheduled for a liver function test next week as part of my routine check-up. The clinic's instructions mentioned something about fasting, but I'm not entirely clear. Is it absolutely necessary to fast before going for a liver function test?

Yes, a 10-12 hour fast is generally recommended for an LFT to keep the baseline enzymes stable. Since I manage diabetes, I schedule the test for 7:30 AM sharp and carry my medicines and a small apple to eat immediately after giving the sample.

Hey, don't stress too much! Yes, you need to fast overnight, which basically just means no late-night chips and no morning tea till the test is done. Book an early home collection and you'll be eating breakfast in no time!

Yes, fasting overnight is usually advised to let the body rest and show its true state. Stay positive, keep your mind peaceful, and drink a little plain water in the morning if you feel thirsty. Everything will go smoothly.

I totally understand the anxiety of preparing for medical tests, I used to worry about every single detail. Yes, you do need to fast for about 10-12 hours for a liver function test to get accurate results. It is a very routine test, so please don't stress.

In my seventy years, I have had many liver function tests done during my annual health checks. An overnight fast of 10 hours is standard practice to avoid any interference from food. It is a simple process, nothing to worry about.
