Do you have to fast for liver blood test?

For my annual health check-up, my doctor included a liver blood test this time. I completely forgot to ask the nurse if I should fast before getting the test done.

Yes, fasting for 10 to 12 hours is usually recommended for a liver blood test to get accurate results. I hope your reports come back absolutely fine.

I get my LFT and blood pressure checked every six months. Fasting overnight is definitely required because food can change the level of liver enzymes in the blood. Regular checkups are very important to manage our health.

Yes, fasting for 10-12 hours is standard because dietary fats can interfere with the liver panel readings. Try to eat a very simple, non-greasy vegetarian dinner the night before the test to get clean and accurate results.

I had to do a liver test recently and the lab guys told me no food or juice for 10 hours before giving the sample. Plain water is fine. Just sleep through the fast and do it first thing in the morning.

Behan, bilkul khali pet jaana chahiye subah, paani pi sakte ho bas. Maine toh bahut se gharelu nuskhe bhi try kiye hain liver ke liye, par blood test ki report sahi aane ke liye fasting zaroori hai.

Actually yaar, fasting is mandatory for LFT. If you eat, some enzyme levels like ALP can fluctuate, and you won't get the correct picture. So just skip your morning chai till the test is done.

Yes, a 10 to 12-hour fast is required. I have been monitoring my liver health for years; also make sure you do not drink alcohol for at least 48 hours before the test as it highly distorts the enzyme levels.

Yes, standard protocol is fasting for 10 hours. Digestion can temporarily alter liver enzyme levels, so keep it empty stomach. You can hit your workout or running session after you give the blood sample.
