Do you get paid for donating liver?

Someone in our family needs a liver transplant, and we're looking into living donors. I wanted to know if there's any financial compensation or payment for donating a portion of your liver here in India.

Oh goodness, please be very careful with this! Legally, you absolutely cannot get paid for donating a liver or any organ in India, as commercial trading is totally illegal. The thought of such surgeries makes me so anxious, so please only seek info from registered government hospital authorities.

No, commercial selling of liver tissue is strictly banned by law here. Liver donation is a major surgical procedure done voluntarily to save a close relative. Always speak directly to a senior doctor at a licensed transplant hospital to understand the real medical and legal process.

I was actually reading about organ transplant laws in India out of curiosity last week. There is a strict ban on any financial transactions for organ donation, and it carries huge legal penalties. It is entirely a voluntary act done only for immediate family members.

No, my family has always respected the noble act of organ donation, but it must be done strictly within the legal framework. In India, paying a donor is completely illegal. You must consult a registered medical board at a reputed hospital to understand the legalities of voluntary donation.

Straight answer: No, you don't get a single rupee. Selling any organ is a major crime in India, and you can end up in jail. If someone is offering you money for this, they are running an illegal racket, so stay far away.
